Dutch Chicken Or Pork Sate On A Skewer

Tuesday, 7th June 2011 - Last updated on: Wednesday, 8th June 2011

To go with the peanut sauce from last week, we would like to offer the recipe for a good original Dutch Chicken Saté. As mentioned in last weeks post, peanut sauce is originally an Indonesian sauce and it goes along very well with Chicken Saté which is also originally Indonesian. However, the Chicken Saté with peanut sauce is offered in almost every snackbar, lunch restaurant, beach clubs or road side food/snackbars.

The recipe is actually extremely simple, because with conimex saté marination it takes less than 5 minutes to prepare.

To serve 500 grams of chicken.

Ingredients:

How to prepare:

Put a bunch of skewers in the water and let them soak for at least 15 minutes. Chop the chicken or pork into cubes of about 1.5cm by 1.5cm. Then prepare the marination by putting the contents of the Conimex Saté Marination sachet into a bowl. Add the wok oil, water and Ketjap Manis and stir until you get a smooth sauce. Add the meat and stir until the meat is covered all around. You can let the meat marinate overnight in the fridge, with a wrapper over the bowl. Make sure the meat marinates at least 20 minutes before putting the cubes onto the skewers though. Usually around 4 pieces per skewer looks good. With a serving per person of 3 skewers, that's a good sized amount of meat.

You can cook the meat on the BBQ for the best flavour. The oven however gives very good tender results, otherwise the grill or frypan is also possible. Cook until not pink anymore and serve with peanut sauce.
